We have found you a solution to talk to your Canadian friend for free. Free Phone line, which is a canada based voip provider allows you to call Canada absolutely free with a free incoming canadian number of your choice.
The first 5000 residents from each of Toronto, Montreal, London, St. Catharines, Hamilton, Oshawa, Brampton, Cooksville and Exeter will receive FREE calling to anywhere in Canada and your new phone number for life. This means that in order to call Canada, you need to reside in canada itself.
You must be knowing that I live in India. When I tried registering to free phone line, I just changed my address while registering. Just write any address and pin belonging to those destinations. (Toronto, Montreal etc) You may Google it to get those details.
After that you need to do is download their softphone(PC application).
